Teddy Nelson, Major (retired), USAF, Ed.D.

Why should you vote for Jill?
Jill is, at heart, an educator. While she no longer teaches in a traditional classroom setting, she continues to educate by working with community college students and adults who support learners.
This fall, she is set to present at a conference for educators focused on supporting students receiving special education services. At another event, she will share insights with transportation professionals on addressing the needs of students in foster care and those experiencing homelessness.
Jill's diverse experiences have equipped her with invaluable knowledge to help guide Aldine ISD. From teaching in the classroom to serving in leadership roles and overseeing operations, she has a comprehensive understanding of how a school district functions and what it takes to ensure its success.
Deep Roots in the Aldine Community
Jill Metcalfe is a proud product of the Aldine district, where she grew up and later dedicated nearly 20 years of her career. She attended Francis, Teague, and Nimitz as a student, and after graduating from college, she returned to Aldine to serve as a teacher and coach at Nimitz Ninth Grade School. Committed to her professional growth, she pursued and earned her master’s degree while working full-time.
Jill’s leadership journey began as an assistant principal at Aldine Ninth Grade School, where she honed her administrative skills. She then transitioned to Aldine ISD’s Transportation Department, steadily rising through the ranks to become the Executive Director of Transportation in 2017. In this role, she collaborated with the Technology Department to implement innovative security solutions that were later adopted district-wide. During Hurricane Harvey, Jill's dedication to her community was unwavering. Despite her own home flooding with nearly seven feet of water, she drove a school bus to assist in rescue efforts, working closely with the Harris County Office of Emergency Management and local fire departments.
Throughout her career, Jill has contributed significantly to the Aldine district. She has been instrumental in the design and planning of new school buildings, improving academic performance at the schools she served, and driving operational efficiencies within the Transportation Department. Her strategic efforts not only saved the district money but also improved employee wages, demonstrating her commitment to balancing fiscal responsibility with community support.
